The age you race at will be your age you will be on 12/31/06 (not the age you
are on the day of the race). Thisis a new rule for this season and has caused
some confusion at other races.

(Bethesda, Md.), last year’s junior male world champion and recent 2006 junior
duathlon world champion, and defending female national champion Yasmine White
(Arcata, Calif.).
The Venue
Seaside Park is the most spectacular beachside park in the whole of Connecticut
- and most people don't even know it is there!!
It is a perfect venue for a triathlon event - with 49 acres of landscaped
beachside park with 2.5 miles of coastline, spectacular views of the sound,
great facilities (and the roads have just been repaved). We promise you won't be
disappointed.
The swim course is in the Long Island Sound
starting and finishing on Seaside Park beach. Estimated water temperature
74º-75ºF.
2006 USAT National Athlete Development
ITU-style Race Series
In 2006, USA Triathlon Athlete Development again offers a
complete race series for aspiring athletes 13-23 years old. This series consists
of events conducted under International Triathlon Union (ITU) rules which serve
to prepare young American athletes for international competition, including
World Championships and the Olympic Games.
The 2006 Series will consist of races across the United States
that will be scored on place, similar to ITU rankings, with more points being
awarded for placing well at the higher profile races.
Youth Elite National Championship
(Saturday Aug 5th 6.20 a.m.) -
Athletes aged 13 to 15 years old as of Dec. 31, 2006 are eligible to race in the
Youth Elite division. Youth Elite race is ITU-style (draft-legal bike leg)
with race distances of a 400m swim, 12k bike, and 2.5k run.
There are no World Championships for Youth Elite.
Junior Elite National Championship (Saturday August 5th 7.15 a.m.)
Athletes aged 16-19 years old as of Dec. 31, 2006 are eligible to race in the
Junior Elite division. Junior Elite race is ITU style (draft-legal bike leg)
with race
distances of a 750m swim, 19k bike, and 5k run. The Junior Elite National
Championship will qualify
3 females and 3 males athletes for the 2006 ITU Junior World Championships.
Details of World Championships qualification criteria
2006 Athlete Development Series Scoring-
An athlete's ranking will be the sum of up to their 3 best
scores. Points will be awarded to the top Youth Elite and Junior Elite athletes
at each event with the first place athlete receiving the most points, second
place the next most, and so on.
This is a 1st Tier Event. 1st Tier events will score the most points in the Series. The 2nd
Tier events, consisting of returning series events will score the 2nd most
points, and all other ITU-Style races will make up the 3rd Tier, and score the
third most points. Series standings will be updated throughout the year as race
results are posted.

All-Americans-
The top 5% of ranked athletes at the end of the year, as well as
the National Champion, will earn All-American status in 2006. The top 6-10% will
earn Honorable Mention. Honors will be given in the Youth Elite (13-15 years
old) and Junior Elite (16-19 years old) divisions.
Qualifications
This event is
open to all USA Triathlon members who fulfill the age requirements. No
pre-qualification is needed.
Registration is open.
