Goal Setting by Pascale Butcher

Albert Einstein once said "If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal". This works for all of us and now is the right time to sit down and think. Stimulate your reticular activating system and write down your goals. They can be anything you really want but to help you succeed make sure they are realistic.

 First choose your goals:

1.      Be realistic

-         Physical constraints

-         Time and life constraints

-         Financial constraints

   2. Understand where you are today

   3. Be as specific as you can

Second divide them in short terms and long terms goals:

Examples of short term goals:

-         lose 5lbs by Valentine’s day

-         complete 50 push-ups a day by the end of February

Examples of long term goals:

-         enter a marathon in October

-         buy a ski house by 2006

Third check where you are now:

-         Look at recent performances

-         Perform specific testing in each areas

-         Have a coach or expert assess your strengths and weaknesses

Fourth break them into pieces:

-         Build a plan that will take you to your goals

-         Each step in the plan should be small and achievable

-         Incorporate regular testing to see how you are doing

Finally Go Achieve Your Dream
